About Our Shag Club:

The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham shag club was formed in 1992 as a social dance club to promote the Carolina Shag dance.  From the beginning of a small group of people, our Birmingham membership averages 150 members per year.  Our club is a member of the Association of Carolina Shag Clubs, an organization of over 100+ shag clubs stretching from Tampa to Boston, but mainly in the Carolina's.

Where and When We Dance:

The Beach Shaggers of Birmingham shag club dances every Tuesday night (with a few exceptions) at the Kelly Ingram VFW post #668 located at 1801 - 11th Avenue North, Birmingham, AL.  No door charge for Tuesday night dances.  Weekly FREE shag dance lessons for beginners start at 6:30 pm, these usually last half hour.  Dancing starts around 7 pm until 10 pm.  The VFW has a large, hardwood dance floor and a well stocked bar (great drink prices).  Popcorn can be purchased from the bar - no other food is available.  The VFW is a non-smoking facility - no credit cards "cash only".

Exceptions - our club has a special party on the 2nd Friday night of each month.  We do not dance on the Tuesday before our Friday night parties.

Membership Dues and Other Information:

Annual membership dues are only $35.00 for new members and $30.00 for current members, if they rejoin before March 1st.  Membership dues help support our great shag music and DJ's, our place to dance, and various special parties throughout the year.  If you love to dance, enjoy great music, and have fun meeting  friendly people - then the Beach Shaggers of Birmingham shag club is the place for you!
